Eating Out

Lochinver village has several very good eating places, just a short walk away from your accommodation, and if you are here for a while, you can try a different venue each day. They all use the finest of local produce, so you can be assured of getting a delightful meal, whichever one you visit. Eat at the Albert Roux restaurant in the Inver Lodge Hotel, or the famous Albannach restaurant that boasts a Michelin Star. Move on to the Caberfeidh restaurant, or the Lochinver Larder which is renowned country wide for its' mouth watering pies by post, as well as for the excellent fare which it always serves up. The Lochinver Mission, which is owned by the community, also has a fine menu to choose from, as does the nearby Culag Hotel, and all at very affordable prices.

The Albannach

You need to book your table here in advance, but it is well worth the trouble. The owners Colin and Lesley serve up the finest of inventive fare always using the very best of local produce. The quality of creative food in this restaurant is second to none, and that achieved for its owners a Michelin star in 2009. Fifteen minutes brisk walk from Polcraig will get you there and also help to whet your appetite.

The Caberfeidh

A lively, busy pub with a great atmosphere, you can eat in the bar or in the restaurant, the choice is yours. From the restaurant windows you can watch the salmon leaping in the river estuary as you enjoy your meal in welcoming surroundings. Great place to eat and only a five minute walk from your accommodation at Polcraig.

Lochinver Larder

An excellent eatery, owned and run by Ian and Debra Stewart, which really is a great larder. The best pies you will ever consume are made here, and the selection ranges from all sorts of savoury meats to all sorts of sweet fillings. Known country wide for its' pies by post, you will also find in this restaurant a superb menu to suit all palates. Whatever you choose, it will be cooked to perfection. Serving teas and coffees all day, this is a great place to visit, relax and enjoy a cuppa, in a very cordial atmosphere, only five minutes walk from your accommodation at Polcraig, so give it a try and you will not be disappointed.
